Atop Prospect Mountain in Lake George

On June 23th, I turned 30 years old.  The original plan was to hike up this Prospect Mountain, but isolated thunderstorms spoiled the fun.  Thankfully, there was a road we could drive up so we could, at least, get some decent looks at Lake George.

As we drove up, we got caught in quite the squall!  Thunder, lightning and hail forced us to wait at one of the overlook parking lots on the way to the summit.

It wasn’t all bad though.  It turns out we were one of the few cars to brave the storm up the mountain, as the top parking lot was nearly empty!  We had the entire summit to ourselves, and a little rain didn’t stop us.  Thunder echoed throughout the surrounding mountains, which was a new experience for me.  We even had a single indigo bunting enjoying the view with us.

More photos can be seen in the gallery.  Enjoy!
