What are the odds of spotting a tiny sized butterfly you’ve never seen before in the middle of the mountains in New Paltz? Pretty good apparently!
This actually took me a little while to identify and after a bit of research, I can confidently say it is a white-m hairstreak. This butterfly was not listed on the Dutchess or Ulster County list, according to Butterflies & Moths of North America. I came across the match looking at the Orange County list.
I ordered a butterfly field guide last week for times like these… it just needs to get here!
