Today marks the day that I have officially photographed 100 bird species in Dutchess County! While at Thompson Pond Nature Preserve, I spotted and photographed a Ring-Necked Duck. There were a total of seven of them there. The photo will not win me any prizes on clarity (they were quite far away), but it stands as a testament to how diverse our area is when it comes to wildlife.
To make today even better, I also spotted and photographed what looks like an American Coot. This photo was even worse, so I will post it to confirm the ID later. My observation notes and photographs will come later. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
