Photos from 05/12/11 – Peach Hill Park

I stopped at the hill again after work last Thursday to continue looking for new birds.  This time my fiancee came with me.  We got there later than normal and were only there for an hour or so.

After seeing some yellow warblers, baltimore orioles, eastern kingbirds, and american goldfinches, we got a real treat with a large flock of brant.  They literally flew right overhead, offering some interesting looks, including the one posted.

There wasn’t much out in the evening, but the few things we saw were exceptional.  My fiancee spotted our first black-and-white warbler in a dark little area in the orchard and at the summit, we saw our first ruby-throated hummingbird of the season zip by us.  The moon was out clearly with a red-tailed hawk gliding around nearby.

The pickings were slim for taking photos, but I did my best.  Full sighting list is below the gallery.  Enjoy!
