Hopeland Area Photos from 01/16/12

In the interest of showcasing places to hike in Dutchess County, I took a bunch of photos at Hopeland Park.  I walked every inch of trail on the property, photographing the scenery nearly every step of the way.

If you haven’t stopped here to check it out, I recommend a visit when you get a chance.  The gently sloping hills and relatively short trails make this an enjoyable hike and the variety of habitats make it an interesting spot for bird watching.

Must be beautiful during the height of summer.

Not only is it really nice there in the warmer months, it’s a great spot for bird watching. It also is the only place I’ve seen and spotted a black-billed cuckoo so far! 🙂 I’ll have to go back in the spring and summer to take more photos to showcase the other seasons.

How do you get to it? How far from parking, please?

    • Derrick says:

If you are coming into Staatsburg from Hyde Park on Rt.9, bare to the left onto Old Post Rd by Norrie Point. Continue on Old Post Rd past Mills Mansion and it will be on your left a few minutes up the road. Google Maps still needs to update, it still shows a road where the park is – Hopeland Park location
