I went back to Lake Walton along the Dutchess Rail Trail in the afternoon in hopes to find and photograph the osprey I saw a few days earlier. Unfortunately, he wasn’t around, but something more exciting was.
Mingling with ring-necked ducks, I saw two pied-billed grebes in the mix, a bird I’ve never seen or photographed in Dutchess County! With cloudy weather and distance behind the grebes and I, I simply snapped dozens of photos in hopes to get one decent shot. This was the best I could get under the conditions.
This is the 130th bird photographed locally! It’s quite the personal milestone! 😀
