The sightings were few and far between at Buttercup Farm Sanctuary in Stanford. Getting a late start to the day probably played a big role in that, but stopping at Wild Hive Farm and Cafe for breakfast was well worth it. 🙂
The highlight of the day were the few american lady butterflies fluttering about the preserve. I tried to get shots with the wings both open and closed, and was successful in my attempts.
Other mentionables included eastern phoebes and blue-gray gnatcatcher, but it was largely quiet late in the morning and early afternoon. I was surprised too, as I’ve had great luck here in the past around this time of year. Oh well, next time!
