Species Count – Vassar Farm on 05/13/12

Baltimore Oriole

Another day, another morning hike looking for wildlife.  This time, I went over to Vassar Farm.  I didn’t realize there was a race going on Sunday, but that didn’t stop me from checking out my normal spots.

Highlights included a solitary sandpiper at the front pond, a green heron at the front pond, a very cooperative pair of tree swallows at a nest box along the trail through the fields, and a baltimore oriole building a nest in the back pond area.

In total, 51 species were either spotted or heard.  Read on for the full list.
