With a four day weekend because of the holidays, I had hoped to spend some time outside. When I got the chance, I went out to Vassar Farm to look for winter wildlife.
It was a mostly quiet day, with the exception of a very large mixed flock of birds out in the fields. It was large enough to attract the attention of the red-shouldered hawk you see here.
The biggest surprise of the day was three field sparrows with the flock. A common summer resident to our area, this would be the first time I’ve ever seen them in the window. Thankfully, I got a pair of photos for proof. For them and the rest of the shots from the day, please visit the gallery. Enjoy!
