Wildlife in the Dominican Republic – Hispaniolan Parrot

Hispaniolan Parrot

Hispaniolan Parrot

One species of bird I’ve always wanted to see in the wild is a parrot.  I’m not picky, any species of parrot will do! 😛

In the Dominican Republic, the only parrot that can be found there is called the Hispaniolan Parrot.  They are a threatened species and their numbers continue to decline.  So imagine my surprise to see three of them fly to my ‘spot’ at the resort where I spent my mornings!

They mostly kept their distance, but my patience allowed a few seconds of reasonable opportunities.  It was well worth the wait to see them, and now I get to share my experience with you!
