Wildlife in the Dominican Republic – Antillean Mango

Antillean Mango

Antillean Mango

Something I was really hoping to see some tropical hummingbirds.  Every morning, I would hang around the flowered spots of the resort to wait and see what would come around.

Looking through a guide book I picked up, three species of hummingbirds could be found in the Dominican Republic – Antillean Mangos, Vervain Hummingbirds, and Hispaniolan Emeralds.  I saw two species on vacation, but only one landed long enough for me to get a picture.  It was a fairly far away, but close enough to get a positive ID.  Meet the antillean mango!
