Wildlife in the Dominican Republic – Green Anole

Hispaniolan Green Anole

One thing that there wasn’t a shortage of in the Dominican Republic was geckos and lizards.  It’s a type of animal I simply have no background in.  Thankfully, I would see a few dozen every day, so I had plenty of opportunities.

Most of the lizards I saw were either a brownish or grayish color, but one day, I found this brightly colored green one jumping around in the bushes.  Like most wildlife on the vacation, it turned towards my direction for a brief moment so that I could take a picture.  It’s almost like they know I was a tourist!

I did a little research after I got home and I believe it is a green anole.
