We had some isolated ‘snow’ on Sunday throughout New Paltz, New York… and I’m not talking about the white stuff from the sky!
I received a heads up of a Snowy Owl sighting at the Ulster County Fairgrounds, so with it being relatively close to our home, we headed out that way. On the way there, we saw a single Snow Goose mixed with a bunch canada geese. It was only the second one I’ve ever seen around here. After a brief photo shoot, we were on our way.
You would think that seeing a Snowy Owl in our home county was exciting enough, and it was… until a raven came through and made it interesting.
Once the raven noticed the snowy owl on the ground, it got very agitated and approached extremely close. I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to expect and was so awe struck, I almost didn’t take any photos. After a 30 second display of hostility, the raven flew away while the owl continued to rest.
